2002 A6 CEL codes??
#11
I have a scanner (not the VAG-COM) it allowed me to reset the codes and they did come back. Is the VAG-COM scanner needed if i have a regular scanner already? There is no warranty with the car it was a private sale (used to be a company car from CT). I read that the average fix for this tranny issue is around 2000 - 3000. Is that accurate? It's going into the shop to be checked out this Thursday. Not a dealer but they specialize in foreign cars specifically VW and Audi.
Glad to read your problem is relatively minor to fix re:GSS
good luck!

P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circ Performance or Stuck Off
This one will not affect how the car shifts or how the transmission feels under normal driving. What it does affect is the torque converter locks up at highway speed, will affect your fuel economy, and I've read damage the trans over a longer period of time. The torque converter in the ZF trans attached to the 2.7T and 4.2 V8 have a weak internal seal, the seal leaks, and the trans is not able to hold lock up at speed, or will unlock easily. Try resetting the code and drive to a highway on ramp without going into 5th. Then put it in drive and accelerate up to hwy speed. Dip into the throttle just a little so it doesn't down shift, but you accelerate. Light come on again? I paid $1600 at a local trans shop to get mine fixed.

PS. I too was hosed on a private sale. Test drove the car, no CEL, no codes. Within a week of purchase, up popped the code.
