Default 2002 audi a6 3.0 jerking and has a sealed transmission

Hello, i have a 2002 audi with 169k miles and the car jerks when i switch it from parking to drive. i am also trying to change the ATF but my Audi is all sealed in the bottom and doesnt have a place to change it, i have seen other a6's and saw how they have a gasket with the ATF but mine does not. and also the middle square where it says parking, drive, neutral and etc on the odometer it blinks a lot i have no clue why... thanks for taking your time reading this and hope to hear from you.

Are you saying it BANGS into gear? That and the blinking PRNDL indicate a bad transmission or TCU. I would change the TCU out first, as that is easier and cheaper and it is a common failure and might explain the symptoms you decribed. Leave the fluid change to a professional.

If its the FWD model it probably has the CVT transmission which are known to fail, and to be honest, I am surprised you got 169k miles out of. If all of the gear indicators are lit or flashing its going into a safe mode due to either a mechanical or electrical malfunction as noted above.

Really need to do some diagnosing to figure it out, maybe have a good Euro shop hook it to a VAG Com or if you have one, you can do it.

I agree with bob martin, most likely the TCU needs to be replaced. To take the old unit out, you need to drain the tranny fluid; the unit is inside. It will cost you approx. $500-700. Make sure you have a replacement unit which perfectly fit you transmission. There are too many diferent CVT on the market.
Good Luck!!!
