I wouldn't do that job for 150.00. I would rather do it for free. Good luck on it though.

Does this engine not have ICM's? There's a plug for them on the firewall.

3.0 is controled by the motronic ECM. This problem sounds mechanical. Each coil harness goes into a loom and back to the ECM box.

Just so you know. If it slipped it's shot and if It was my car I would change it along with the rollers and tensioner and the water pump etc and seals. Because if/when it breaks it will bend most of your 30 valves. But don't worry Audi sells them for about ~70 a piece plus the gaskets and new head bolts and OH yeah the timing belt will need to be replaced. So you will be throwing away your car.

I know you don't know the engine so I just wanted to tell you that your mechanic sucks. What's he going to do? stretch it and spin the cam right. That belt is the reason the car was sold, the other owner didn't want to do it either and it slipped. Either from it streching or the tensioner is bad.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!

or I told ya so

^^ Agreed.. you must loosen and realign the cams anyways, its one extra step to actually change the belt. Then, once the belts off, change the water pump.

Whats that expression? 'No time to do it right, but plenty to do it twice.'

I was only trying to look out for you. Do what you want. Didn't mean to upset you.

I don't believe anyone on this site would recommend not replacing that belt and tensioner because of the overwhelming risk of loosing your heads and the associated cost.

Do a quick google on AUDI, BROKEN BELT, BENT VALVES.

Hope everything works out!
