I don't believe anyone on this site would recommend not replacing that belt and tensioner because of the overwhelming risk of loosing your heads and the associated cost.

Do a quick google on AUDI, BROKEN BELT, BENT VALVES.

Hope everything works out!
lol sorry didn't mean to lol.. well we just first need to make sure the misfiring problem is gone first, but then thats that stuff.. Besides the timing belt looks new..

My tb was looking almost like new as well (after 68,000 miles, followed by ... sitting a lot), but the tensioner was causing the belt to rub against the covers. It was getting close to seize and was responsible for a lot of noise which I couldn't figure out before starting the TBjob....like a grease-starved bearing.
Jackmup is just trying to give you some pointers.

Did you fix the misfiring?

Hey man, you're getting a lot of valuable free advice....and from guys who have fixed a lot of these problems themselves....I'd trust them over a guy who is trying to sell you something(the mechanic selling his services.)

The 3.0L engine is super sensitive to the timing belt, it would throw a cam allocation fault code the second a belt slipped a tooth. Not to mention it has 4 cam pulleys VS two on the 2.7 and 2.8 engines, so it takes double the force to jump a tooth. Change the coil packs and see what happens.

yah I already changed the coils, but still the same thing, but a little better.. So our mechanic will check on if the timing belt slipped, if so we will get it fixed right away.. I'll try to update you guys through what comes upon..

I got my injectors back and still no joy.
I am looking at the cam position sensors, and there appears to be 4 of them!
I replaced the spark plugs on the passenger side of the engine today and they seemed wet and smelled like gasoline. When I did the other said a few days ago the plugs were dry.
So it seems that there is fuel delivery but not enough spark to ignite.
Back out again with the VAG-COM for a reading...

well my problem was bent valves on drivers side.. But with $300 of labor and $100-200 in parts it can all be done less than $500..

I'm just curious: how many valves do you have bent, 2-3 only? I noticed you opened a different thread looking for places selling valves for a 3.0L. From the prices on PrimeAutoParts you'll spend more than $ 200...
