Default 2002 Audi a6 needs new TCM

I took my car to the audi dealer and they told me my car needs a new tcm. Its gonna cost about 2500 to replace. Any other alternatives to this or anyone know a good place that I could buy one for a better price. Thanks. BTW its a 3.0 fwd.

I used one of those 'Spare Parts' online forms that you fill in, and various Wrecker/Breakers yards contact you with used replacements. Mine was the slightly older 2.8 version tho, in the end when i cracked it open it was some corrosion on a few of the pins.

I just replaced the pins and was good to go. If you don't mind a used one they may only run you about $400-$600, it's easy to replace, but you have to get the whole carpet up on the passenger side.

There is a class action lawsuit possibly relating to your issue. If the TCU was damaged by moisture from clogged drain, then you may be off the hook for the cost. Do a search.

You can also try typing in the main part number into a search on ebay I have rebuilt two A6's with water damage and have found controllers for both on there just got one two weeks ago for $175 just be sure the part numbers match exactly.
