2002 code help

RE: 2002 code help
Ok the problem is a tiny o ring in the front of the converter that allows oil to leak past
Thus causing the fault
This is most common 3.0 and 2.7 engines and the only fix is a new converter
So avant80@2.6 you are right by what the book says but I am telling you exactly what the problem is
If another tech reads this he will know what im talking about

RE: 2002 code help
I am a new Audi owner, 2001 Allroad 2.7L, with the same problem, DTC P0741. Other than hesitation on take-off a couple of times, I haven't noticed any performance problems. I am just wondering what Dvandy1 and hamsolo ending up doing about the problem with their Audis??? If anyone else has anymore input, I would love to hear it. I too am being told by Audi to replace the torque converter at $32K
Thanks!

RE: 2002 code help
I have an Audi A6 2.7T also with the same problem. I have had the car for 3 years and love it, but this trouble code P0741 has been with me for over a year now and I have not noticed any real change in fuel economy or anything else. My mechanic (ex Audi now private) is also telling me I have to replace the torque converter to get the light to go off. Other than resetting it every few days.
I was thinking that if it is just an O-ring, I wonder if it would be possible to replace that O ring or seal it in some other wayinstead of replacingthe whole torque converter. Even if you had to do some major disassembly, it would have to be less than the $3k+ for a new one.
