Default 2004 2.7 a6 oil filter ?

In the past I only had the dealer change my oil. I thought my next oil change I would save some money and have a local repair shop change oil instead of paying $95.00 at dealer. My local guy would not change my oil because he had problems in the past with my year, model Audi. He said that the oil filter screws onto an oil cooler and while removing the filter the cooler could also twist and ruin the gasket between the cooler and engine block. Is this true? Also how do you reset the service due warning ?

Thanks for any info.

Only a moron can screw up an oil change on an A6, once the undertray is off. But, there seem to be no shortage of morons around, especially in the quick oil change business. take it to another shop.
