Default 2004 A6 Quattro - How Much Transmission Fluid ?

Folks...just changed my trans oil on my 2004 2.0 A6 Avant Quattro. I followed the instructions from Blauparts i.e. after filling oil and it comes out of fill hole start engine and put tranny in each gear for 10 seconds and then top up.

The problem is I swear I emptied about 5 qts of old oil and only can get about 3.5 qts back in as it keeps coming donw the fill pipe...i.e. it is full up.

Car was 100% level. Is 3.5 qts about right to fill up new ?

Many thanks for your help....JB

Folks...I figured it out. I did not have the engine running when I was topping off. Started the engine at Idle and it took another 2 qts...the shifting is really smooth now and its amazing the difference. I had 53,000 miles on it...change your tranny oil its great ! JB

FYI those transmissions take more than 5L to fill.

Blau sends 5L, don't know why. Make sure you get it right so you don't have problems down the road. If you don't use the Vag-com method you at least want to replace what you drained. Be careful.

Mine took 6.2L
