Question 2004 C5 A6 4.2 timing belt loose

After installing a new timing belt and tensioner when the engine is stopped the belt gets loose enough that I can pull it off the left cam gear. Sometimes it takes over night to loosen other times it may only be 30 minutes and sometimes it stays tight. Any thoughts out there. The steeler says that it is normal depending on where the cam lobes are when the engine is stopped. My B5 S4 never did it. The car only has 62k on it.

Take it back to the stealer. It should not be loose enough to slide off the cam gears.

The belt was replaced under Audi Care atr the steeler. I wanted them to replace everything else(water pump, rollers etc) while they had it apart but they wanted almost 1600.00. I had an independent shop replace the tensioner after the steeler said it was normal. Not going back to the steeler.
