Default 2005 2.4 A6 avant c6 auto problem

Hi
Can any one help, I have just got the auto box serviced, hoping this would sort the problem but it hasn't. The car drives fine but when put your foot right down, the car drops down a gear but gets stuck in that gear and over revs to about 7000 revs and drops back to 4000. At this point if you take your foot off the gas and apply it again softly, it drives normal. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "but gets stuck in that gear and over revs to about 7000 revs and drops back to 4000"? This sounds like a clutch going out on a manual shift car. But, here is my question (to make sure I understand the scenario): When you put your foot down, the transmission shifts down a gear like it supposed to, does it then immediately rev to 7000 or do you accelerate until the engine reaches 7000 rpm? Why do you say it gets stuck in that gear? It SHOULD hold the lower gear for as long as your foot is down, if not shift to an event lower gear. Are you expecting it to shift down another gear but it doesn't? Is that what you mean by "stuck"?

The engine will automatically switch to power or economy mode depending on how you step on the gas smoothly or the opposite floor it.

I bet the one you mentioned will not happen if you step on the gas pedal gradually.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, i mean when i put my foot down to drive it a little hard it drops a gear like it should and accelerates but then suddenly stops accelerating and the revs continue upto 7000-8000 revs , and some times stays there for a few seconds even though my foot is not on the pedal.when i say stuck, i mean it wont change up into the next gear.
thanks

It is to my knowledge that the red sector starts at 6500 rpm?

Going to 8000 is not common and dangerous!

You have to pull the DTC - looks to me there is no power transfer for the time of acceleration - the rpm sensors will detect the fault.

Somethings wrong with your transm - this is not a normal behavior.

Your engine is 2.4l - what is your transmission model - are you Quattro?

Have you experienced the problem before transm service? What is the mileage?
Is this the first service done? What was done - in detail?

Do you have the Check Engine light on? If it's on then DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) code(s) will be stored and indicate what the problem(s) is/are.

Hi
Got it checked today the codes are 00537 P0219 Engine overspeed condition and 00016 P0010 'A' camshaft position Actuator Circuit Bank 1: malfunction. What does this mean ? He cleared the fault codes and wants to make sure this is the problem so i will go back on thursday and see if the same codes reappear.
Thanks for the help guys
