Exclamation 2006 Audi A6 - Rear door will not unlock! Please help!

Hi guys,

The rear door on the drivers side is acting up. When locked, it will not unlock with the keyfob, in-cabin unlock button, or smart access. It only opens if you pull the handle from the inside. Also, sometimes the door actually works fine and opens with the unlock button, but most of the time it does not.

You can hear it try to unlock, sounds just like any other door that is working, but when you pull the handle it doesn't open.

Please let me know your thoughts, or what I can do to further diagnose the issue.

I am not sure if it is the lock mechanism that may need to be replaced. If so, is this a difficult job? Is there a DIY?

Thanks so much for your help! Gotta love this forum.

Get a VAG-COM scan. Believe it or not the doors have their own diagnostics.

Anyone have a VAG-COM in the Seattle area? I am happy to buy you a 6-pack for plugging in the A6!

I could go buy a VAG-COM, but I haven't done much research on prices, Macbook compatibility, etc.. I don't drive often either, so my hope is that this will be my only problem lol
