I have a A6 4.2 and have found the brakes to be very grabby and a little leary of what will happen on snow and ice. I am new to Audi is this going to be a problem. I would like some responses from experienced Audi winter drivers.

The abs will kick in if you lock a wheel. That will not stop your car faster but it will give you steering control. An audis no different than any other car in snow or ice. Stopping distance is increased. Just drive carefull. Awd will help you get going easier and it helps with stability especially in corners but it wont stop your car any faster.
