Cannot seem to discover which code I need so as to hold my 4.2 in first gear.
This early shift in first is NO fun at all !! anyone know the correct code? BENG

 

You can downshift back into it but I know what you mean :-/

 

Yea, I want to feel that upper RPM power in first gear!!!!!!!!!!! I want to go into second when I WANT to go into second!!! BENG

You can recode the 2.8 to stay in first, hard to believe you cant with the 4.2??? Beng

 

Vastperformance has a program that lets you use first gear

 

get a vag-com and do this http://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/165324.phtmlyou will get faster shifts and it holds 1st gear and lets you downshift into it from 2nd as well, but i wouldn't recommend doing the latter

Thanks much explOsive, this is what I was looking for. Did not know if the codes were the same between the 2.8 and the 4.2 and was apprehensive about experimenting. and yes, I will NOT be downshifting into 1st! thanks BENG
