4.2 Rim and Wheel Help
Hello everyone,
My current wheels have suffered a number of bends and cracks over the years (bad roads where I am). They have been repaired but I'm now seriously looking for new ones.
I want to stick to the original 17" rims (German spec) as the roads aren't that great.
Original rim size was 17 x 8 (I think) with 255/40/17 tyres.
Most rims I find are 18 x 8. Any idea where I can find decent RS4 or RS6 replicas on 17 x 8? Would 17 x 8.5 fit? I don't think the 17 x 7.5 would fit. Has anyone got 17 x 7.5 on a wide body A6?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Im 99.9% sure the 17x7.5's would work as I am currently running them on my 2000 a6 4.2 with the 255's. And yes, the stock rim size is a 17x8 and comes in either a 235 or 255. Id you want, I have a set of 17x7.5's that I'd pry be interested in selling if you want them. they're the 5 spoke a4 style wheels. But im guessing the 17's would be more suitable for the roads you're talking about.

I have original Audi 17's that came with the 2003, 4.2 sport. Selling all five if you want matching spare. three are in very good shape and two have rash spots of 3inches or less (not highly noticeable) on the edge. Could be buffed out. Very durable wheels. That is of course if you do not go to the other styles. PM me if interested.

I have the original 5 spoke sport rims from a 2002 4.2 they are in good shape, one has a spot where the clear coat has come off. they have near new 245/45/17 tires. I know the original tires were 255/40/17, but when I got these tires I was waiting for the 19's I wanted, so I got the 245's because they were cheaper. And they fit with no rubbing and they ride very nice.
