Default 95 A6 engine speed sensor ohm reading

I have a 95 A6 that won't start. I have a engine speed sensor that has 1050 ohm's of resistance. The spec that i've found say's the reading should be between 400-1000. Because the reading is a little over should I assume the sensor is bad and replace it? Do these go be often? Thanks for the help.

no, 1050 is not that far off and could be caused by a temperature differential ( warmer wires, higher resistance ) or an inaccurate meter. You need to dig deeper. It's not essential to have the VAG com software for this, but sure does help. What OBD codes are reported?

I didn't think that was far enough off, I'm waiting on the 2x2 connector to come in and check the codes.
