95 Avant... ghosts in the machine. Help?
I've recently been having some odd electrical problems that only happen occasionally, but all at once.
When I start my car, buttons for the rear fog light, flashers, and rear defroster are dimly lit, not on, just lit up. When I press the rear defroster button, I get a "Brake Light" warning that goes away when the defroster is turned back off. Apparently the light at the top of the rear window wont work when the defroster is on.
The passenger side rear view mirror moves down automatically for parking when the car is in reverse, this works normally... the weird thing is that it also does this in any other gear when I press the brake.
When I select drive the digital indicator on the dash will flash sporadically between N D and 3 for a while, and/or the space for the D will just be blank instead of inverted like usual.
Like I said, they only happen occasionally, but I haven't been able to determine a cause or pattern. Any Ideas?

You might have a bad ground. You need to look at a wiring diagram to see what all the problem areas have in common. They might have a common ground that is flacky. Not an uncommon ocurance with these "wonderful" vehicles...

Heh, I really like my car, but it has been interesting getting it into shape. Thanks for the replies.
A grounding issue sounds like a good place to start. I'm pretty good at finding my way around mechanical stuff, but as of yet I'm hopeless with electrics, so I could hope it's just a ground and not something more complicated.
Yes I did mean the mirror, thanks, typing too fast, fixed it in the post. Can you elaborate on the neutral safety switch?
