Default 97 A6 ATF

I have to change the radiator in my 97 A6 2.8Q and will loose a bit of transmission fluid.

Bently says that the O1F transmission 7/95> requires VWATF G052162and >6/95 uses Dextron.

Does this mean that vehicles manufactured in July of 95 and after uses the VW ATF?

Can't help, but mebbe a bump.

I haven't been able to post. So trying this.

I think that what you have indicated may be true.

Brake fluid, and PS, do NOT deviate from recommendation.

Cheers,

George

7/95> = 7/95 and after.
You can getan ATF refill kit from www.blauparts.com, which includes an ATFhand pump and instructions. You will need VAG-COM to get the transmission temperature, so that you get the correct ATF fluid level per the Bentley instructions. You can get the VAG-COM from www.ross-tech.com.
For a 1997 A6 the ATF should be changed every 45,000 miles.
The vehicle must be level and securely on jack stands on a solid reinforced concrete surface. You may need to order extra ATF when you get the refill kit, since you lost some when you did the radiator, etc.
