97 a6 heating problems
my a6 temp light was flashin but temp gauge wasat halfway not movin up. so i procedded home, turned the car off and it proceeded to spill coolant everywhere. no radiator fan turned on.. so today i had read in the forum if the AC is on and both fans run, its not a fan, probably a fuse, relay , switch. ok well both fans RUN when teh AC is on.
welli tested the switch jumped the connectors and both fans ran in the forum they said if they both work, then its a switch. . so i drove it to napa replaced my switch. drove for about 15 mins, coolant light started flashing, gauge didn'tmove though. so i got home turned off the car,.. coolant had sprayed out of something, and it was so pressurized it wanted to blow up ya know.. im not sure where to go from here if you could help it would be greatly apprcieated!

RE: 97 a6 heating problems
I just had a similar problem on my 1996 A6 where the light kept flashing and when I opened the hood you could see coolant spilling out. Turns out there was a crack in the coolant holder tank. they are replacing the tank and hopefully it fixes the problem.

RE: 97 a6 heating problems
I just got my car back and so far so good. Looks like it fixed the problem.
When the light first started flashing the tempature gauge stayed where it always is but when I popped the hood there was smoke coming out from the hose that lead to the coolant tank. Hope this helps. It was inexpensive to fix only $131 where I took it to.
