Default heating problems... HELP

hey guys, it's getting cold here and i figured out the hard way my heat isn't working. it's a 2003 w/ a 1.8T, i turn it on and it blows out nothing but cold air. the engine warms up and stays at a reasonable temperature so i don't think there is a radiator or waterpump problem. i've been reading up a little bit and apparently the heater cores are kind of a weak link... and also a bitch to get to.

can anyone give me a little insight before i take my car in so i can get an idea of what i'm looking at.

btw if they do have to replace a few things i was thinking about going ahead and doing the timing belt and tensioners while they are in there since the car already has 61k on the ticker, better now than later.

I agree if there is going to be work performed in that area you would be well advised to do pump and t-belt/tensioner.
As far as the heat or lack of it, if there is no coolant smell when car is hot i.e a leaky core or if you see no leaks or any indicators whatsoever that there is a leak it may, I repeat may be an air bubble trapped in the system that can either work itself out or take it in to have serviced. However it would then concern me how air got into the system. Good luck man keep us posted.
