I have a 98 Audi A6 2.8l FWD AT

I want to see if anyone else has had this problem and what they did to fix it. Also I feel I need to replace the ECU before I can go any farther in the diagnostic process. I have looked through car-parts.com, ebay, and craigslist (i live in the Bay Area, Ca). Does anyone have another place to look for an ecu and does state emisions make me limited to Ca ecu's only?

I start the engine= idles smooth, no warning lights

Drop transmission out of park and I get the red brake light flashing, the amber abs light, and the electronic display window blinks the oil warning picture. It also beeps, and the tachometer does not work.

It drives fine but every time I pull away from a stop it will give me three distinct and loud beeps, then go quiet until the next time i need to pull away from a stop.

The Audi shop told me my ecu is fried and my abs problem is the the ABS might not engage when making a panic stop at speeds over 60mph, but once below 60mph the ABS will kick in.

I have replaced the spark plugs with NGK laser Platinum torqued to 22ft/lbs. I testedthe coils resistance, they check out. Tried hooking up the car to a OBDII scanner but it wouldn't connect, possibly because the computer is fried.

This is my first post and I have been able to gather some good info so far. I thank you all in advance for your time.

I guess its the ABS at fault and you need to check all the fuses first ( the tacho runs through the ABS module )

 

mine does that too. did you ever get it fixed and how?
