Default Tach Problems

So I'm at a stop light and I take off and shift at like 3 grand and my tach doesn't go back down it just stays at 3, then when I'm in second it goes to like 6 and stops. So now my tach is stuck all the way back around to zero. What is wrong, I'm guessing it will probably cost me. Thanx.

Your clutch could be slipping, or your cluster is shot. Not sure which one is cheaper....
Can you start your car? If not start looking at clutch kits.

Repair- $250-$400 you pull it out/send it in. $1000 Dealer installs new "upgraded" cluster. My dealer covered half the cost so I paid $500 to get a new cluster @ 104 K. The cluster issue is a known weak point of the TT, and once one gauge starts acting up it only gets worse from there, sorry

When he revs the engine... the tach goes up but doesnt go down... when he releases the gas.. the engine does slow down... the tach just does not reflect that.

check for recalls ( its a sticky needle ) the spring is weak or the dash got too hot and expanded making the needle stick but as its electronic it could be the VSS or ABS because they are linked but ill go for a sticky needle
