can somebody help me program the key. i dont know how. i changed the batteries in my key and it doesnt work. i was told i needed to program the key. can someone tell me how i could do this. i have a 98 audi a6 quattro 2.8l.

Try this, you need more than one key to program the remotes.
Place one key inside the ignition and turn the key to the on position.
Step out side the car and use the key you want to program to manually lock the door.
After locking the door press the lock or un-lock button and you should see the lights flash.
Pushing the key 5 times will erase all the remote pre-sets
After they are all erased manually lock the door again and push the button once, wait a second pull the key out of the door and you should be able to un-lock it with the remote.
When programming the other key do the same procedure except hit the key twice instead of once to set the memory to position 2.
Verify both keys work ok.
If that doesn't work you have to have a VAG COM or factory scanner to program the keys.
