Default Key Fob Program (only one key)

I've checked this issue out here and on other forums and haven't been able to find an answer so here it goes:

-I only have only one key+fob
-I have an '02 B5 S4 and want to program the fob
-It's never worked since I bought the car used
-I replaced the batteries with the correct type
-I am able to unlock/lock the doors and engage the alarm by turning the key in the trunk lock

-Took these steps in VAG
1. "35 - Cent. Locking"
2. "Adaptation - 10"
3. channel "00"
4. save to clear all fobs
5. Enter channel "01" or "21"

For step 5 I am getting channel not found for both ch 01 and ch 21, in fact, I have gone through channels 01-99 and am getting the same error.

Nothing is being received in the measuring blocks either.

I cannot assign the fob to any channels since they are all unavailable. Is it possible that there is something wrong with the central locking controller itself? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

You can't do it with the vag com that way on that model year. You need to have a valey key in the ignition set to the on position then manually lock the door with the key+fob outside the car, press the key once and the lights should flash. Let it sit for about 10 seconds then it should be coded to the #1 position, two flashes will be for #2 position etc. up to 4 positions.

Default Found this great guide on the Central Locking System

http://vwforum.vwforum.ro/index.php?...post&id=127910

I bought two fobs + one key from keylessride and got it cut at a locksmith. I wasn't able to get the keys synced using the instructions I received. The reason was that the lock on the drivers door wouldn't operate all the locks properly.

Using the steps from the above link (substituted boot lock drivers lock), I cleared all positions and programmed each of the two FoBs confirming with measuring block 003 with VAG. Worked like a charm for my 2002 B5 S4. I couldn't paste all steps but they are in the doc.

To clear out all memory positions:

1. Switch on ignition
2. Lock car mechanically using 2nd key (i used the boot lock)
3. Press unlock button 5 times at 1 second intervals on FOB you wish to program. A horn or light flash will occur each press
4. After 6 seconds, press remote transmitter "unlock" button to confirm clearing procedure one more time.

Confirm this using the measuring blocks should be 0000

Details of programming the FOBs and reading the measuring blocks is in the linked document.

OK my ex has destroyed both of my keys. I have an oem replacement and the nearest dealership is 20 hours away. I have a guy here with a solus edge and only one uncut new replacement key. Is it possible for me to get this done without the massive amounts of trailering and dealership costs on this?
