98 A6 Quattro Tiptronic Stalled!
Dear all,
I am in the process of buying an 98 A6 2.8 Quattro from a private seller.
Test drove the car and the only problem was that I put it in the Tiptronic mode and I was probably in the 4th gear, then I deceerated to make a right turn.
The car stalled while I was turning right at about 10mph!
The owner said he never had such a problem, so I am wondering if that was normal.
There's no display on the dash showing which gear I was in, and the other tiptronic cars I drove (Acura, Mercedes, etc) down shifts automatically.
I am new to Audi's, would appreciate all your advice!
Thanks!

yea eh, maybe someone who has a tip could tell you that. i would think its cuz ur not downshifting. but i have heard with some tips that downshift for you, not sure about audi. try making a post in the a4 section, and just say, hey, does audi tips downshift for u, the a4 is the most active section
My trip will automatically shift down, but its an '00. It has indicator on dash, and automatically shift down at certain speeds. Most times, i just leave the trip in drive/auto mode. Really, its only good for winter braking and hills. As a performance tranny.. its not that great. You can get some okay acceleration out of it, but a think a shift kit would be better than trying to shift a tip at optimum times.
