I have a 98 A6 Quattro with 115K
My transmission went "safe"
Took it to a private Audi mechanic and he checked it and said it was the TCU and would cost about $900 to fix. I asked him if he was sure and he said yes
After getting a TCU (remanufactured) he now tell me my transmission WILL NOT shift to 5th gear.
He says he willl have to get the tranny out and check it.
Anyone with any ideas about this

Now you asking us. only thing is take it to dealer and have them to check it. Dealer have better equipment for testing. I will still recomend for that.
