I'm tryna buy an HID kit for my 98 a6 QUATTRO, but Im not sure what the blub size is

How about the high beams

 

Do not put HIDs in your high beams. You will ruin the bulbs very quickly. Plus hids take a few seconds to warm up.

 

Oh okay. well heres the thing..
I recently bought the car from my cousin, and the lowbeams are "burnt out", not the bulbs but the actual sockets..

So i figured i'd save about 500 by not buyin new headlight assemblies and just installing the HIDs in the highbeams

Any suggestions?

 

HIDs are not bulbs.. it is a 'system'. If you buy the system, it will have sockets.

 

I don't understand what you mean by the low beam sockets are burnt out.

As for the high beams, you easily could wire them up to be the low beams, but their job is to send light straight out, not off to the sides at all so you would not get very good performance.

But, I have never tried it so maybe it would work really well.

Does this model require a relay for the HID's? And i had googled the bulb size and came across a website that claimed in was h7. So is it h1/h7?

Its a confusion b/w D2S and H1, one of those are the bulb size
Not sure which1, any1?
