99 audi A6 handling
I recently purchased a 1999 Audi A6 wagon with 97,000 miles. The car is in great shape, but I have a question on the ride quality and handling. This is our first Audi. On smooth surface it feels great and handles fine, but riding on pavement with any surface roughness at all it seems to transmit the a significant amount of vibration to the passengers. Is this normal, given that it's a performance car? I would think that if it needed new shocks that this would give a spongey feel - plus new shocks would cost several hundred dollars. Any ideas?
Was your car previously lowered? Check the gap between the top of the tire and the fender, if its les than about 1.25" it was lowered. Lowering springs often produce a "harsher ride", my car is lowered but im used to it and it really isnt that bad, in fact i kind of like that sporty feel lol, imight just be wierd but thats just my opinion. A6's with stock suspension generally ride very smooth.good luck
