A6 2.5 TDI BALANCE SHAFT OUT OF TIMING?
Has anyone had any problems with v6 tdi balance shafts slipping out of timing, or the chain jumping the sprocket to put it out of timing?
My A6 has serious heavy engine vibration at all revs, driving along or stationary, which I thought may have been the electro/hydraulic engine mountings failing, but I have since eliminated all mountings, exhaust touching bodywork, broken fan, misfire and such like. The only thing I can think of that could cause the vibration is the balance shaft.
2 weeks ago the vibration went away for a day, then gradually came back, as though the balance shaft had slipped so far that it had gone back into timing again then back out.
Any input or experiences on this matter would be greatly appreciated, before I start pulling the engine to pieces, and upset the wife and kids by taking the car off the road for a couple of days!
