Hi all,

First post . . . . . .

Has anyone ever removed the rear bumper on a '02 A6 before? Is it hard to do and does anyone know where I can find a guide to do it?

Exploded view of rear bumper removal and installation



1-
Combi bolt - 23 Nm

Impact absorber

Removing

Cross member

Remove cover.



q
Unscrew combi boltand pull cross member out of longitudinal members.

Rear cross panel trim

To remove, unscrew oval head self-tapping screws(6x).

Oval head self-tapping screw - 1.5 Nm

Cover

Removing:



–
Partially remove luggage compartment trim.



–
Unscrew hexagon collared nutsand (accessible from luggage compartment).



–
Disengage cover sideways from guide and detach.



–
Unplug connectors if applicable.

Attaching cover to side panel

Oval head self-tapping screw - 1 Nm

Wheel housing liner

To unscrew hexagon collared nuts, unfasten and press aside rear half of wheel housing liner.

Hexagon collared nut - 6 Nm

Attaching cover to side panel

Press expanding clips -2- into side panel -3- before fitting cover -1-.
