Default A6 Front Suspension Arm

Whilst travelling at about 10 MPH in my A6 TDI Sport I heard an awful rubbing noise coming from the FOS Wheel. I guessed it was a puncture but instead found that one of the suspension arms had broken off. The car is just over 5 years old and has only done 48K so it was a very unusual problem.

Fortunately no other damage was caused and a Local Independent Audi/VW garage fitted a new suspension arm the following day for £155 all in - Very Reasonable.

I Have never had a Suspension arm go on any car I have driven in the last 27 years. Is this a one off, or have other Audi drivers experiences similar mishaps?

It has been mentioned to me that Audi had a recall some years ago for a suspension problem, does anyone know about this and what models were involved?

What do you mean by "broken"? Did the ball joint come apart? This happens. Did it break in half? No way!

I've had my driver-front upper control arm replaced twice (by previous owner) and I JUST replaced my lower control arm due to BOTH bushings being shot to hell about 2 months ago...($375 installed from stealership) ( already, I am hearing noises coming from my driver front again!! I absolutely love audi's due to their looks, comfortability, and how fun they are to drive - but man, I'm really starting to become un-impressed of how many times in the last 8 months I've been to the stealership for stupid ****. Anyone else having front noises? Mine can go from grinding, to squealing, to squeaking depending on the road I'm driving on / how far I'm turning the wheel / what speed I am going. I'm rather starting to get annoyed with Audi's expensive yet "cheap" fixes.
