Default a6 Gauge Cluster

ok i have a 99 a6 and i was wondering if anyone would know if i can buy a newer gauge cluster say from a 00 or 01 and if i would have any problems getting it to work properly, i know they changed from the analog clock to the digital one with the date, would that work ? also the back lighting in mine is all red.. are the 00 and 01 white light? the a4s are in 00 and 01, if anyone can second what color theres is and answer those questions thad be great, and btw i dont have an immobilizer in mine.

01s have white numbers. Not sure about 00s. Same for the A4s. How are they lit red? Is it with a red bulb or is there a red film on the back of the gauges? If it was bulbs, maybe you could get some new white ones. Just a thought...

Yep, I have digital clock with the date. What is the engine code on your car? Mine is ATQ, which is what all 01s are for sure. (in theory)-If yours had the same engine code as a 01, the only thing that could be a problem would be the clock. Only think I can think of is possibly the place that rebuilds clusters to fix the pixels, if they could change yours around...

well i dont know what ATQ means but i know that i dont have an immobilizer, but all i really want is the white numbers on the guages, and yea a working screen, but i just dont wanna spend a million dollars for the screen fix and i cant not drive a week or two while its getting repaired.
