Default A6 motion sensor question

Someone broke into my 03 2.7T, by breaking the driver side window. The door wasn't opened and the alarm did not go off. Interior items were taken. Is this car motion sensor equipped and how can I check? I only have the trunk release button on the B-pillar.

I'm not too sure about the motions sensor but I think they are standard. Check this pdf out:
http://www.audiworld.com/model/a6/03/03a62_7t.pdf
It states the anti theft system is standard, which I'm guessing should include the sensor.

I know you can connect a VAGCom to your car and not only check if the sensors are there but also if they are activated and how sensitive they should be. Mine is set to 8 out of 10 and sometimes even wind will trigger them if I leave my windows open.

It probably should have gone off yes. It's an ultrasonic motion sensor and will even react to wind blowing through. 15 minutes after you lock your car (it could be 30min, meh) the alarm is activated. Mine will go off if you leave the windows cracked or if you stay in the car for that long.

You realize how week the alarm sound is though, don't you? It just does a stupid little beep for a while and eventually stops and just flashes the lights - pretty lame.

wow - 15 to 30 minutes to activate in your car? I have a 2002 4.2 a6 and mine kicks in like one or 2 minutes after the doors are locked.
I left my little one locked in for just 2 minutes to grab something I forgot and to be safe I locked the car... when I got back it was blinking and flashing, with that stupid horn making a sound like an old grandma screaming for help

You made me curious so I locked my car to set the alarm -- I can see the red blinking door locks. Waited 10 and 60 minutes and jiggled it hard -- no alarm. The only time I have heard it go off is if I unlock it, put the key in the ignition and sit for a while, and then start it and drive off. I get about a 100' and the alarm goes off. By comparison, was heading across Lk Michigan on the ferry with my Crossfire locked up, and we did not go a mile before the crew called me down to disable the alarm. The motion sensor absolutely works on that car.

Thanks all. I ran vag-com on my car and got a "no response from controller" from the interior monitor control module. I'm getting responses from other modules so I know the program is performing correctly. My guess is there is either no motion sensor installed or it has been disabled. Before I install an aftermarket, it's off to the dealer I go.

Mine is 2002 Avant and it has 2 button in the B-pillar lower area, one is trunk release and the other one is disable motion sensor. That I am sure I have this feature. Check if you have same button.

Now that you mention it that's right there is a button to disable it next to the trunk release. I didn't think of that since that actual button is missing on mine.. anyone got a clue where to get a replacement while we are at it? :P
