Hello friends,
I will will be deploying to Iraq for 15-18 months and need to know what kind of pre-storage preperation I need to perform on my A6. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

the only things i can think of off the top of my head that i would do would be to get a bottle of fuel stabilizer and disconnect the battery. you'll probably have flat spots on your tires when you get back, but put a good 100 miles on them and they should go away. you should probably change the oil when you get back also if the car is going to sit that long.
Get a couple bags of charcoal and place one in te trunk and one on either side of the back floor boards on some plastic. This will help with moisture and help to prevent mildew. Make sure you slice open the sides of the bags to expose charcoal to the air. I didn't do this to the first car I had before deployment 13 monther and came back and it was mildew all over the place and it was a "temperature controlled" storage place. The second time 15 monther I did this to my Audi and had zero problems. Good Luck and watch your back...

Only thing I'd add is make sure not just to put in fuel stabilizer but to also fill your tank all the way up; I've heard occasional stories about water condensation being offset by that.
Stay safe in the sandbox.

Suggest you flatten four cardboard boxes and place one under each tire to keep the rubber off the concrete. It won't help with the flat spots, but concrete is very acidic and it will protect the tires (a little) from rotting. Probably putting armor-all on them would help.
I agree with an oil change before putting it up and don't forget Sta-Bil in the gas.
Good luck and come home soon. I support the soldiers 110%, but Bush is an idiot (and a draft dodger).

I am kind of late on this thread but I would like to thank you for your service!!
As for storing long term I used to store a boat every year so its not quite the same thing but many of the techniques apply.
[ol][*]make sure to use something that soaks up moisture like charcoal or a desiccant. I would put one in the trunk and a couple in the cabin[*]get the tires off the ground with jack stands.[*]fog the engine with oil - I used 5w30 on my boat engine but that was a Chevy 350 so you might want to check in to that for the Audi.[*]disconnect the battery and store it in a cool dry place- if you can leave it with somebody that can keep a trickle charger on it you might be able to use it when you get back.[*]Gas stabilizer in the tank and run the engine long enough with it in there to make sure it gets in to the entire fule system.[/ol]
I found a few good links you can check out.
