Hi, I notice my A6 2000 2.8L , the cluster panel, ins't showing car's coolant temperature? always on low, sometimes it does show temperature, but most of the time , the gauge is always on low, I need to know is that a thermal switch bad reading?, cause Im most certainly shure it is, and if so, can someone tell me in what part of the engine I can find it so I can replace it , thanks.

i have the same thing on my 2000 a6 2.8q avant...

let me know if anyone will have an answer to that...

This for an A4, but it should be similar for an A6.

A couple thoughts:

1) Make sure you have a replacement retainer clip - they're cheap and if the existing one is plastic, it may break on removal.

2) Make sure the old O-ring is removed before you install the new sensor. Someone on this forum spent a bunch of time trying to install the sensor only to find the old O-ring was still in there.
