your rotor is held in place by the lug bolts, which you removed to remove the tire. if you pull the caliper, the rotor will probably fall and smash your toe so watch for that or wear steel toes.

My steering wheel wobbled a little after a did the CV boots and removed the upper control arms. I had it aligned and road force balanced and it is good as new. I recommend using a good shop to do the alignment not a franchise joint.

Bringing back a nearly two year old thread to respond to a member who has not even logged on to the forum in over a year?

yup. that's the type of stuff that happens when you abuse the forum search instead of posting a brand new, fresh post to ask a question. of course, if you do that you're then told to use the forum search function. some people are never happy.

But you were answering a question asked by a "member" who has not logged on in years, that is the amusement. If you had been asking a question I would not have been as amused.

i'll start by admitting that i didn't look at the post date, only that the question had been unanswered. now, if i came across that unanswered question, does it not stand to reason that someone else might come across it as well? perhaps because they used the search function, as i had and people are repeatedly reminded about.

have you ever searched for an answer, by posing it as a direct question to a search engine, found someone asking the exact same question as you, only to find out they never got an answer?

other than that, i'm glad i could make you smile. =]

Warped rotors for sure.

I would buy some slotted ATEs and better pads. The vibrarion you are talking about has been an MB issue as well. It was found that rim offsets made a difference. Stick with factory rim offsets, check your tire pressure and too much is bad, and as well make sure your balance is done at 100mp, not 70.

I have the same problem with my 2000 2.7T, so far I have done the following:
Changed the tiers (Conti procontacts)
Lower front control arms.
Balanced tiers.
Alignment checked multipurpose times.
checked bearings no play
little to no play in the tie rod ends
check tire pressures on a regular basis.

but yet I still have sporadic vibrations. At this point I am at a loss to see what else could be the cause of my vibrations.
