Default A6- What year's have a Timing Chain versus Belt?

Does anyone know what year the A6 3.2 engines started using a Timing Chain versus a Timing belt. A friend of mine has a 2005 A6 3.2 and his dealer told him that he has a Timing chain. So is 2005 the first year that the A6 3.2's got a Timing Chain and do all of the years after 2005 have a chain as well (06,07,08,09)?

I have talked to my service man at the Audi dealership and he told me some early 2005 A6 3.2L engines used a timing belt. Can anyone tell me the difference between the plain 3.2L engines and the 3.2L FSI engines and at what time the engines went to a timing chain?

The 3.2 only came with FSI, and from day one it had a timing chain.
