A6 window/door electrical issues
I just bought a 99 a6 wagon 2.8 automatic. Last night, the windows and sunroof wouldn't open. Also I can't lock the doors from the inside. When I put the car in drive, the MFD shows 3 doors open, two in the back, and the front passenger door. These doors are all definately closed. The windows, and sunroof do nothing at all. When I press unlock, the locks move like they normally would, but the lock button does nothing. I can lock the doors from the outside with the keyfob. Anyone have any clue on what might be causing this?

possibly a wire or 2 exposed in rubber boot that goes from car into door, i not having probs but i was putting some cables into the doors for a mod job over weekend a found some exposed wires in that area that the sheath had just worn away over time, i know VW has prob like this so i assume it happens with Audi's aswell, it easy to pop boot off and look

RE: A6 window/door electrical issues
I've had problems with the rear hatch on my 96 Avant. The wires that run thru the rubber boot eventually break after repeated movement. I had problems with locking the back door and indications of some switchpositions. Since they are all color coded it was not a big deal to re-attach the broken ones. You could have the same type of problem but maybe in your front drivers door. After all that is were central control unit for your windows and door locks are located. I'd check the connections on the control unit and look over the wires inside the rubber boot that goes between the car and the door. Of course check to be sure all fuses look good.

It's Fuse 14. Do a search - there's lots of potential causes. For me, it was a short in the wire to the rear driver side footwell light. I just pulled one connector under the front seat and the problem has never re-appeared. Lots of other potential causes, but that's an easy one to try first.
