Hey guys,

I have a 2000 a6 4.2 and i'm looking for a roof rack for it. I don't know how the whole thing works but it seems like thule makes some pretty good racks. What i'm wondering is; can you install just the cross bars (without adding the long roof rails that run from front to back) and then add attachments to it? or do you need the entire set up?

any help on this would be greatly appreciated. if you need me to clarify what it is that i'm asking just let me know.

Thanks for the reply. That guys roof rack does look pretty nice! So that kinda did answer the question i had. Thank you. It looks like you CAN have just the two bars going across - without having to attach them to the long roof rails that come on the Avants.
