AC blows hot air after desired temperature is reached
Car: Audi A6 2005 3.2 Quattro
In the summer as I start driving the AC works just fine but shortly after the engine reaches it's optimum temperature the left + right passenger units as well as the windshield unit start blowing very hot air. Turning the AC on or off doesn't fix the issue, lowering the AC to the lowest temperature also doesn't do anything. I brought this up issue up to my mechanic and he attached a computer to the car and reset the system that controls the air. The AC immediately started working as intended but shortly after driving for 15 minutes the hot air came back. I returned to the mechanic, he checked the computer for errors but nothing came up. He reset the system once again to get it working. Shortly after driving away for the second time the hot air returned.
Has anyone had a similar issue or knows how this can be fixed? Winter time is not that bad since I will be using the heat most of the time but I'd like to be prepared for the summer as it was a torture driving on a highway with no AC in hot weather. Having windows down does only so much.
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi,
I have the same problem, same car did you find the solution?
I already sold my car a few years ago and forgot about this post since no one replied
Yes, I solved the problem. I found a video similar to this one
which explained how to take the unit apart and clean it. I believe I used vinegar or something similar to get rid of the rust looking residue on the thin pin looking floaters.
High-level steps:
1. Let the car cool down. I wasn't sure what's inside the units and wether spillage is ok.
2. Remove the small screws using proper star screw driver, you will see liquid coming out of them as you remove the metal covers (there was no pressure or spray from the liquid, it just leaked out slowly). This did not cause any damage to the car or surrounding area, no idea what that liquid is, hopefully water
I did this with a family member, we didn't remove the pipes hooking up to the unit, it's uncomfortable but you can unscrew the metal parts with the unit fully in place, that's how we did it, as long as you have the tools you'll be fine.
3. Clean the thing pieces of rust as shown in the video. The rust is what kept the internal components from going up and down properly to regular the air coming into the car.
4. Assemble it back together. No liquid was poured back into it, just reassemble the unit.
5. Start the car and drive around. I believe I had the car for 1.5-2 years after the fix and never had an issue. I know the owner who I sold the car to and he still doesn't have any issues, this would be extra 4-5 years at this point.
I hope this helps, you can always buyer a new unit as a replacement but I suggest at least giving this a try before having a mechanic or yourself spending more money on it.
Good luck!
