Default Air bag light

My 1999 Audi A6 just had the fuel pump replaced. When I picked the car up at the shop, the airbag light is now on. Could the light being on be caused by what the mechanic did to replace the fuel pump or is this just a coincidence and the airbag light is a separate problem? Thanks!

Find a VAG COM and get the error code for the airbag light. It will tell you why the code is being thrown. Maybe your local AutoZone can do it for you.

It is possible that they disconnected something. The rear seats have an airbag senor...but I doubt the mechanic had to pull out the rear seat bottom to get to the fuel pump.

I would find somebody with a VAGCOM that can check the code. Maybe it can be cleared. Go to audiworld.com and post on the VAGCOM forum.

If you have rear side airbags there is indeed a connector under the rear seat which must be disconnected to replace the pump. I would pull the rear seat out and check that.
