Default Air flow metering?

I have a 2001 a6 and I just got these 4 codes:

p1113

p1131

p1127

p1129

All of these codes said the same thing which was manufacturer control fuel air metering. I dnt know exactly what these codes mean. I think they have something to do with the o2 sensors or the cats but im not sure. Any ideas?

The last two are fuel trim "system too rich" readings. Your first and easiest option is to clean the MAF and see if that helps. After that it might mean you have other fuel problems, vac leaks, or etc.

The first two are O2 sensors that are probably bad. Or at least not detecting properly. You have to take things apart to actually tell what's going on.

I would do things in this order:

• Check the MAF, clean it, etc. (check the wiring and connections)
• Check vacuum lines and probably replace them (chances are it wouldn't hurt to replace them all)
• Check O2 sensors (generally Bank2 in front of the cats)
• Check fuel lines for leaks, etc
• Check fuel pump

If it makes you feel any better I'm on step one right now for my wife's A6, being as it's giving me codes P0411, P1141, P1129, and P1127.

Update: it was the MAF going bad. I took the [good] one out of my car, put it in the wife's and ran perfectly fine. I thought that taking it apart and cleaning it was good enough, but it must be broken internally somewhere.

So... a bad maf was causing all of your codes?

I have not done a post-scan, but I will get to it soon. I anticipate that the P0411 might still be there from the Intake Air Sensor, something in the secondary air injection system, or vacuum hoses that still need to be replaced. But the car most definitely runs better/fine now.

The P1127 & P1129 are just coming from the system recognizing that there is an imbalance in the fuel to air ratio and this is just caused by the car not knowing the correct input of air, which it gets from the MAF.

Keep in mind that my car was probably only driven 5-10 miles while having these symptoms/codes - a prolonged exposure to bad air/fuel ratio will result in problems all throughout your car. The O2 sensors and cats would not be happy getting that much unburned fuel. So your P1131 and P1113 are probably the O2 sensors going out :-/

so...I cleaned my MAF and took the car for a ride and it showed no hesitation or loss of power like it did before. Then I took it out again later on and it was back to a loss of power/bogging. Should I go and replace the two front 02 sensors and then see what happens?

The O2 sensors aren't going to give you significant loss of power and/or bogging down when compared to the MAF or vacuum lines. Replace the MAF and check the vacuum lines.
