I rechecked the car and there are now zero codes. So....it appears that changing the MAF did indeed fix ALL my codes. I picked up a used one on ebay for $50 and it works great.

Should I buy a certain brand MAF sensor? Are there brands that I should not buy?

I have no idea; I prefer to replace things with what the engineer originally designed them to use so I usually just replace with stock unless I know a lot about it otherwise. I would say stick with Hitachi because Audi/VW has used them for years. You should be looking for part #078 133 471 E. There are some cheap ones on ebay....

I replaced the MAF sensor and the car seems to still have a loss of power. My friend who is a mechanic said the catylytic converters could be bad since there is a sulphur like smell coming from my exhaust. I'm probably going to remove the cats if they are bad. Do You think they could be the problem?

you shouldn't have a loss of power because of cats, unless they are very very very clogged, but at that point they would probably blow out.

So if it's not the cats it could be the vacuum lines or o2s? Is it worth taking my car to audi to have them tell me exactly what's wrong and then fixing it myself?

You should be able to replace the vacuum lines yourself. There are a few minor DIYs around here, but you basically just do it one segment at a time and there shouldn't be a problem. If nothing changes after that, then yeah maybe have somebody who knows what they're doing take a look at it (if you bring it to Audi, try to do it to coincide with one of their "free check up" endorsement things).

Its been a while since I have been on here but I replaced the maf on my car and it's still running like ****. I brought the car to Audi and they gave me a diagnostic for 130 bucks. they said I need a front right o2 sensor and both exhaust temperature sensors to start with. They would charge me $1650 to replace these sensors so I am going to obviously do it myself. I ordered an o2 sensor but I am having trouble finding the exhaust temp sensors for a cheaper price. I only found them on ecstuning.com and they are $300 each. Do you know where I could find these sensors cheaper?
