Default alignment issue with 2001 audi A6

i dented one rim on my a6 2.8 q. i decided to replace all four to rims that were on a 2001 a4 1.8. the ones i bought are audi stocked rims. my mechanic said they fit in the back but not the front. does anyone know why this could be.my old rims are 16 inch and the ones i bought are 15 in. to drive the car from my mechanic to my house i had 3 16 in. rims and the rear driverside is a 15 in. im thinking i put the 2 15 in. on the rear and the 2 16 in. on the front. i was wondering if i do this will my alignment be off.

Maybe the rims are not large enough to clear the larger front disk brake calipers.
