Default Another tire tread and alignment issue

I just discovered the inner side of both front tire treads are worn out on my 2000 A6 4.2. Tires are 255/40/17 Yokohama AVID H4S.
They are properly inflated between 38 and 40.
I looked at the tires directly from the front and they looked slightly angled (not sure if this is the way Audi designed it to be.)
There was no modification done to this car.
I drove on highway, and the alignment seemed straight. It barely pulled to the right in a long stretch.
In about 3000 miles, the inner treats are worn out due to unknow reason. Rear tires are fine.
Has anyone experienced this?
Do you have a solution to this type of problem?

Thanks!!

Def an alignment issue. How long since the last alignment?
Was a 4 wheel alignment done, it must be for audis.

Looks like you have to go for two tires. That sux.

Take it to Les Scwab and get it on the alignment rack. Your camber and toe need to be adjusted. If your wheels are slanted inwards then there si an adjustment that needs to be made. Guys on the track adjust the wheels inward for increased road handling but for normal driving will eventually eat through your tires. I have the same tires and they are not cheap to replace. Let us know what the problem is when you find out.

If both inners are worn you have a camber issue that cannot be correct with the factory adjustments. Is the vehicle lowered, or have the springs started sagging? Thats the most common cause of camber issues. You could either get new springs, or control arms that allow for camber adjustment.

Car was never lowered. I thought maybe the springs are sagging, too. This car only has 77,000 miles. I didn't think the spring would sag this early. Do you think I will need to replace spring and shocks, too?

Thanks for all of your input.

First i would check the ride height. Unfortunatly i dont know what the spec is supposed to be. There could also be something bent in the suspension. Thats not really to many miles or years for the springs to be sagging. Theyve been holding up 4200 pounds for like 6 or 7 years.

Does anyone out there know the ride height spec?
I talked to the dealer, and they are not sure what the cause is, they only wanted me to bring the car in to check the alignment.
They couldn't tell me anyother posibility.
Again, the car drives straight, but they could only recommend checking on the alignment ($300 ~ $400).
Does this make any sense to you?

It doesnt really make any sense to check the alignment. You have classic camber issues. You need to find out why the camber is so far off.
