Exclamation Any help or advice would be great!!!

So I've had my 96 Audi A6 for a year and its going down the *******. I wanna fix it but i just got laid off from my job. I don't know what to do.. i don't wanna get rid of it but I'm thinking that might have to be the choice =[. But here is a list of things wrong with it:

coolant leaking from engine
key gets stuck in the ignition
one of the catalytic converters is dead
knocking sound from front end when i hit a bump
rear passenger door is stuck closed
and more minor things

I wanted to explain about the door cause i have absolutely no clue what happened. My little brother was sitting in the back and went to go open the door but it was locked. So i unlocked it and told him to try again but the door would not budge. I try to unlock and lock it and try but it is being stubborn. What the hell is going on!!???

But if anyone could help me with what to do about some of the problems i would GREATLY appreciate it!

Brittany

No job = No Money
Therefore an Audi is not the vehicle for you.

Coolant leaking - There are many possible sources - You have to look for them

Key (sometimes) stuck in ingition. Most likely change or something in the shift mechanism stopping the shifter from going into park. I would start by pulling up the shift gate and cleaning out the junk.

Dead cat - burry the cat before it begins to smell and goto SPCA if you want a new one. Other wise the only fix is to get a new or used one. Try Force Five in Concord NH.

Knocking sound from front - It probably needs new control arms - again talk with Force Five about parts.

Rear passenger door - if it opens from the outside and not the inside check the setting on the kid lock.

A multitude of minor things -- It would not be an Audi if there was not at least five things wrong - one of which could cost more than the vehicle is worth.

I'd fix whatever you can then try to trade it on craigslist for another car that's more reliable. Audi's get to that age that you're spending much more to fix a small problem than the cars worth just to have someother expensive part break.

Unload it and get a cheap Honda, I wish I would have gone that route, Audi has left a bad taste in my mouth for sure! I'll never buy another VW product again.

Audi's/vw's are good if they are well looked after imo (I am sure there are some bad one's). Honda's can be the same way...I bought a hatch and the engine blew on the way home, then 2 weeks later the trans locked up. I owned another hatch that I drove for a year and a half and only had to replace the starter and drives side axle. If I were you I'd find a junkyard that is reasonable and fix everything you can (if you have the cash). If you can't do that sell it and get a honda or nissan (I beat a sentra daily and it keeps going strong) or get on some local honda forums or craigs list and try to make a trade.
