Any ideas on how to restore the finish on the fake wood trim
It's real. It's also got a pretty thick layer of plastic over it that polishes quite well. Go to the detailing forum and do a search on "plastic polish" -- you should find references to a polish whose name I forget. It's similar to the polish you'd use on a car's paint (which you could probably substitute with acceptable results). Finish up with Plexus. With a little work, you can make this stuff look like a new batch of the nice, real wood trim it is.
Not really sure but as far as i can tell the fake wood has a plastic covering. You may want to try a plastic polish. Try looking for the dirty headlights threads. The same products should work on the "wood" trim.
Try using a CD scratch removing polish....
Its a little pricey but im sure its cheaper than new trims.
Or even try some 'Brasso' or 'Autosol' metal polish paste followed by a spray on furniture wax/polish to restore the shine and hide any blemishes caused by rubbing...
Just a thought
