Default Anyone using the PIAA H3 ion yellowish bulb

Just wondering if anyone is running the PIAA H3 ion yellowish bulb in their fog lights, if so how do you like them. Quite yellow?

I use them in my 00 Avant and they are yellow. I like them but they do not add a lot of light in front of you. They do exactly what they are suppose to do, cut through the fog. When they eventually burn out (has been 6-7 years since I bought them) I will replace them with regular bulbs since I never really drive in the fog anyways.

Awsome, thanks so much; I was driving in heavy fog eariler and i felt like the HIDs maybe over powered the fogs and im thinking the yellow lights might help, plus I love how the yellow looks when contrasted with HIDs, i've seen it mostly on IS300s

In heavy fog/snow I sometimes (while driving very slow) turn off my HIDs and just use the fog lights. The HIDs produce so much glare.

The studies have proved that yellow light does not cut fog, any better than white light. So, you might want to check that. It's just what you believe, but it is not proved.

This is correct. The most important part about a fog light is its direction. Ever wonder what all the gridding is on your headlights (non Projector)? They balance and direct the light. Most fogs are useless. The best are projector style that can be aligned and adjusted. Usually big bucks. If you can get the light underneath the fog (closest to the road) the fog does the rest by directing the light through refraction thus cutting through. Trying to shine straight through with different colors does nothing but cause glare.

You might want to do some reading. Nowhere, it says yellow lights"cut through the fog". If yellow lights really worked that great, then why Audi has white for Fog lamps?

Goodluck in doing more search in Google! The first result is not always the best..

Honestly, it's mostly for looks, I drive in fog maybe 10-15 times per year, and yellow can't be much worse, but PIAA claims they are efficient. "PIAA’s patented Ion Crystal technology is a great way to improve your visibility in inclement weather. Ion Crystal puts out an amber/yellow light that is less reflective than white light thus greatly reducing the amount of glare in extreme fog. "
