Default Audi 2.7t chip

I have a 2001 A6 2.7t, and was wondering if any of the chips will work on my car just from plugging it in and changing settings? I don't want to have to go somewhere and get it done. If so what is the best one to go for? I'm sorry for asking a possible repetitive question, but I searched and couldn't find the answers to myfirst question. Thanks

Are you talking about purchasing a separate flashed ECU?This may require de-soldering of the current chip and then soldering in the new chip. You may want to check the classifieds and ask a particular sellerif thechip will work for yourcar. I think if you find a chip for your car, it will be mainly plug-n-play.You will probably have to do a few steps to make the chip"adapt" to your car.

Thanks plainaudiguy. I'm just wondering if after I purchase the chip if I can just plug it in myself start picking the options it allows, or do I have to take my old chip out and replace it with the new one.

i am thinking with the 2001, you can just have it flashed. Most vendors just plug it up, send the program and you are done. I wanna say be ready to pay round 400 to 500 for that flash program. i got the apr for 500 on my 2.7 and its amazing!

Check with your local dealers or call apr. they have some certified dealers that will load it, let you try it for 6 hours and it turns off. and if you want to buy it, you just call and pay and they help you activate it! really easy. There is one in cincy so i had it done!

The best thing you can do is a dealer search.

My local dealer let me try both APR and GIAC. In the end I went with GIAC. There are several people that have tested it and in the case you upgrade your turbos you dont need to upgrade your chip.

But do a local dealer search for

GIAC
APR

Or you can try and find a used ECU that is chipped already but that can some times lead to big trouble
