Default Audi A6 1.8 Turbo - Engine jitters and white smoke

When I start my A6 1.8T the engine jitters and doesn't idle at the right level of revs (ie idle at about 600 rather than 1000-110). It then corrects after a little while driving however when I then rev overto 2750 revs the exhaust chucks out a lot of white smoke. Itonly chucks it out atbetween 2750-3100 rpm. If i keep the revs below this there is little tono smoke. I can drive at all variety of speeds but smoke is only expelled at the revpoints mentioned above. If anyone can shed some lightI would be very greatful! Thanks in advance.

yep they make a 1.8T a6 in the UK

white smoke could be coolant getting into the exhaust ( are you loosing any coolant?? )

No not losing any coolant. Think I may be losing a bit of oil but not coolant. Have had it suggested that it may be the turbo. Any thoughts on that ?

Default Same problem

Hi Topterry

I have an Audi A3 1.8T (same engine i think) which is doing similar, although i dont appear to be having any engine jitters.

Did you get your problem resolved and if so, what was it?

Thanks in advance
