Default Audi A6 Avant door lock probs

Hi all
Any ideas.
Problem started about 10 mnths ago. Front passenger door strated bouncing off the final catch. What i mean is when shutting the doors there are 2 positions for the locking positions. 1st being the door not totally shut however its on the first catch position,(door looks ajar but is on the first catch and will not swing open). Push the door to get to final lock postion (second catch). Hope that explains it. So i go to shut the passenger door, ie a swing shut like most of us do. The door will only catch the first position, looks as though it bounces off the final catch. If however the door is shut gently and follow through with pressure on the door it will catch the final locking position. Oiling the lock peridiodically helped. This is how its been for 10mths, able to live with. Now though the lock is playing up more so. The sensor switch that senses the door is shut and turns out the interior lights has failed. I'm trying to locate this sensor. Older cars there used to be a sprung button in the door frame. so when the door was shut this caused the button to compress and turn interior lights off. This i cant find on me A6. and looking at the drivers lock it looks as though the switch sensor is inside the lock. Am i right in thinking this? If the sensor switch is inside the lock mec can i remove the lock and take it apart? If i do will there be a explosion a spring and bits? Or is it just to get another lock mec to replace the one thats acting up? Problem with the interior light switch for this door is the alarm will not arm. I have to switch the auto interior light switch to stop them staying on however this does not switch off the footwell light and doortrim red light. These do go off after 5 mins. There we go any advise will be most appreciated. Phil

Hmmmmm. A bit confusing. Are you saying that your passenger side door does not latch all the way shut AND that the interior lights are, therefore, staying ON? IF so, adjust your stricker outwards just a hair and both of your problems will go away. You will need a 10mm triple square socket. Just loosen the stricker (the thing on the door jamb that the door latch catches) and move it outwards about 1 mm. Tighten, then try the door. Repeat as needed. Once the door is latching properly, the door closed sensor in the door handle should sense the door is closed and turn out the lights. The failure mode for this part is to not sense the door is open and to not turn on the lights. You have the opposite problem so your switch is probably fine. Adjust the door and all should be well. If you don't feel confident to do this job, take the car to any body shop. They can do it for you in a couple of minutes.

Default Door shuts great however

Did the adjustment on the catch, first mm and the door shuts fine on the swing. However the interior light still fails to go out. Tested other doors and there fine. Its as though the sensor switch is stuck on door open position. Just wondering if the switch sensor is inside the lock and is it posible to open up the lock to inspect and repair. Or is it easy enough to just to change the lock?

Thanks for your advise Phil

Ps Tested each door whilst open by pushing the claw back on the lock. They go through 2 clicks. On the final click interior lights go out. Its as though the senor is linked in with the claw. Tried this on the faulty door and it fails to extinguish the lights. I discribed a claw for the lock as this how it looks as it engages the sticker on the door frame. Hope that makes sense

Thanks Jeffla.
Link was spot on. Went for the quick fix. Didn't go for the strip down. Knowing my luck i'll drop a part. May get a secondhand lock later to replace it.

I opted for the quick fix as well. I like taking things apart and fixing them, but sometimes it just doesn't seem worth it. This is a case where I felt it just wasn't worth it.
